Continuing Professional Competency (CPC) Requirements
Continuing Education or PDH is known as CPC in Pennsylvania

Here is a summary of the engineering continuing education requirements mandated by the Pennsylvania State Board of Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists.

Hours Required 24 hours biennially
Renewal Dates September 30 odd years for all engineers
Board Approval The Board does not pre-approve providers or specific courses. Each engineer must determine whether an activity meets the Board’s requirements.
Approved Content CPC credits earned by engineers must “maintain, improve or expand skills and knowledge obtained prior to initial licensure, including law and ethics applicable to the profession, or develop new and relevant skills and knowledge. No credit shall be given for a course in practice building or office management.”
Approved Activities Online continuing education courses are accepted by the Board.
PDH Carryover A maximum of 12 PDH may be carried forward into the next renewal period.
  1. Dual licensees must complete the 24 PDH requirement for each profession. However, if a course is applicable to more than one profession, it can be applied to the PDH requirements of each.
  2. PDH completion records must be maintained for a minimum of 5 years.
