Professional Development Hours (PDH) Requirements
Continuing education for licensed Professional Engineers in Utah

Here is a summary of the engineering continuing education requirements mandated by the Utah Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors Licensing Board.

Hours Required 30 PDH biennially
Renewal Dates December 31 of even-numbered years
Board Approval The Board does not pre-approve providers or specific courses. Each engineer must determine whether an activity meets the Board’s requirements.
Approved Content The course must have an “identifiable clear statement of purpose and defined objective for the educational program directly related to the practice of a professional engineer or professional structural engineer.”
Approved Activities Online courses are specifially shown as accepted, provided there is a test to document that the registrant has learned the material in the course. PDHengineer’s courses meet this requirement.
PDH Carryover A maximum of 15 PDH may be carried forward into the next renewal period.
